Monte Albán

The view north from the South Platform. The oddly shaped building at the center foreground is the Observatory (a.k.a. Montículo J). The 25 brightest stars in the sky can be observed with great precision from this building. Its second level has slabs with relief carvings representing places that were conquered by the Zapotecs.
