Monte Albán

The I-shaped juego de pelota (ball game) court is located on the eastern side of Monte Albán, toward the rising sun. The juego de pelota had religious significance for Mesoamerican peoples, and it likely involved knocking a hard rubber ball through stone rings on either end of the court.
