Michael Murphy

Photographed April 2003.
Washington, DC.

Editors' note: We met Michael Murphy at an antiwar rally in Washington, DC. He had set up his "Kabbalah board" in the shadow of a cherry tree on the grounds of the Washington Monument, away from the blaring loudspeakers. Despite the fact that he clearly had a lot to say, he was an active listener who freely shared his syncretic views with curious passersby. His system of thought, grounded in his study of the Kabbalah and the Bible, incorporates ideas from diverse spiritual traditions. His own website, www.revelation2seven.org, is a labor of love that organizes his thinking into 18+ chapters, and includes thoughtful essays on war; the number of the beast, which he associates with recent American presidents; the nation cult; and other topics.

Thus His hairs are the hair of a Ram, White like Wool, (Revelation 1:14). His Eyes as a Flame of Fire, these are the same Seven Spirits that reveal themselves in the Menorah. (Zecharaiah 4:10; Hebrews 2:1-11) ...

God called his name Adam, and her name Adam. They are, when they both understand the meaning, and when they are joined together in one mind (whether they are husband and wife or not), both Adam. They are not Adam and Eve, or Adam and Lillith, but Adam. It is understood in the precepts of Christ, which—in every type and image—are the true expressions of the Torah ...

While studying a map of the world the Continent of Eurasia suddenly appeared to my mind's eye in the form of a dragon, a Great Dragon ...
