Explanatory notes:

1.   "High & Low at MoMA," a celebrated essay by Arthur Danto, first appeared in the November 26, 1990, issue of The Nation.   MoMA is the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

2.   "Qua" is a fancy way to say "as."   It's used primarily by professional philosophers and people with low self-esteem.
